Summary of the main activities in ALMAHUE in 3 years (04.22 – 04.25)
- Contract with professionals (INTA and GMF)
- Creation of a collaboration network in Patagonia/Argentina
- Establishment of a strategy
New infrastructure & other activities:
- 11 km path
- Renovation of 3 km of fence
- Internet/meeting house
- 3rd bungalow (Capacity to accommodate more than 6 people, total 12 people)
- 2nd wave solar energy
- Purchase of a van
- Creation of a mini sawmill
- Pruning of + 300 “pinos ponderosas (25 years old)”
- Planting of 16.100 trees (mainly cypress, araucarias, cupressus, ñire, pino ponderosa, chacai, and sorbus)
- Cypres seed picking (2023, 2024 and 2025)
- Different planting methods, among others in the “rosehip” bushes
- Start of the PDD study
Survival estimate for planted species between 2022 - 2025
- Cypress: 65% (watered once or twice)
- Cupressus: 70% (no water)
- Araucaria: 70% (watered twice)
- Ponderosa pine: 75/80% (no water)
- Sorbus (3 years): 65% (watered once, the first year)
Most of what we planted in 2023 (1800 u) with bare roots has not survived

• Patagonian Cypress; in front a new one (to be protected), a 50 years old Cypress in 2d plan and a lot of regeneration
• Panting of native species: patagonian cypress, ñire, lenga, roble pellin, araucaria

Our project in Patagonia will be focused on water, Genetic ressources, forest production, livestock production and carbon.
The Almahue Valley, a natural wonder that has fallen victim to human activity and global warming…we will rewilding it !
