Capture Carbon by regenerating and planting + 1 million trees in Patagonia
Our NGO's main purpose is to capture and store over 1 million tons of carbon through ecosystem conservation and restoration and the planting of new trees to increase biodiversity
OUR COMMITMENTS
The values we stand for
Our desire is to provide a more prosperous and harmonious future where the interaction between humans and nature mutually enhances each other
Almahue Forest Project is born of one man’s desire to combat climate change and bio-diversity loss.
Axel de Meeûs, Belgian, passionate about Patagonia since 1987, bought a 4300 Ha plot of land in Patagonia with a goal : be actively part of this worldwide challenge of restoring nature combating climate change.
Achieving this goal means implementing a 3 axis-strategy
1. Protect and regenerate the Patagonian cypress
2. Reintroduce native species
3. Plant mixed forests
Rewilding is an integral part of this strategy
To carry out our strategy, we have entered into a cooperation agreement with the Argentinian Institute of Agricultural Technology, which will support us by providing quality information for better decision-making.
Basic infrastructure and looking for a purpose
• Installation of solar energy
• Renovation & construction of 2 bungalows

• Planting of 100,000 native and introduced species
• Starting the Patagonian Cypress process of protection and regeneration
• Capturing and distributing more water in the camp on 500 Ha (rewilding)
• Building of 12km of roads
• Creation of website and search of financing

• Planting of 455,000 trees
• Starting Maintenance plan
• Restauring and rewilding 500 Ha
Planting - Phase 2
• Infrastructure plan, Phase 3
• Planting of 525,000 trees

Axel de Meeûs’ objective is to plant + 1 million trees and to rewild + 1000 Ha in the Almahue Valle by 2049
Our project in Patagonia aims at capturing and storing carbon by preserving, regenerating and planting trees in El Valle Almahué.
The Almahue Valley, a natural wonder that has fallen victim to human activity and global warming.
Provide more prosperous and harmonious future where the interaction between humans and nature mutually enhances each other.
